Elise is eating her hand in anticipation of some of her Nana’s birthday cake and ice cream at her party last night:

Tomorrow, we head over to Galveston for Eric and Christine’s engagement session on The Strand and the beach, we have a trash the dress session later in the week, then we begin a whirlwind of weddings, engagements, bridals and senior 2010 sessions, so this may be the last couple of our little ones we get to post for a while – they’ll be bigger next time you see them!

The Sturrock Family

Nothing’s better than a toothless grin to start off a crack-a-lackin family session with the Sturrock family this past weekend:

Big brother Gage and big sister Alex joined in the fun in Claiborne Park in Vidor.

We moved to the 4-way see-saw and Gage practiced his surf skills. The weather was perfect for a family photo session – some clouds here and there to cool us a bit and sun peaking through the branches to give great lighting like this:

and this (Luke has the remnants of eating that blue chalk in most of his photos ):

We played catch before moving on to Caldwell Park in Beaumont for an ice cream break and …

… the most awesome hanging-by-your-hands merry-go-round ride ever! These just make you want to go “Wheeeee!!”

Even Luke – he has amazing grip strength for a toddler, he doesn’t even look like he’s trying hard :

We even had time for a quick portrait session for Casey and Ed:

Emily and Laura’s Graduation Week

This past week has been a busy one for Kathy and Mike, as their 2 daughters both graduated!

Laura, as co-valedictorian from the prestigious “Texas Academy Of Leadership In The Humanities”:

And Emily, from the University of Houston with a degree in Industrial Design:

We spent Saturday in the park photographing some celebration photos of both of them – some together and some 3 feet off the ground

I can vaguely remember feeling like that when I graduated, tho I didn’t get that much air when I celebrated It had been a while since Emily had gotten any portraits done, so we had some fun and shot some relaxed images I think she’ll love.

Jharell’s Cap and Gown

Jharell’s mom recently asked me to take a few of Jharell in his cap and gown to finish his senior images. I had the perfect place in mind – using the MLK park here in Beaumont we got some very nice images filled with Martin Luther King’s quotes and the symbolism of the cap and gown:

I have really enjoyed photographing this fine young man’s senior portraits – he’s got a lot going for him and I wish him the best in his future.

I have several more senior sessions to post – up next are Laura and Emily’s sessions; and Jeanne and David’s wedding this weekend!

Avery in Ebony and Ivory

Our daughter Elise’s best friend called us up one day wanting her pictures taken. She’d grown quite a bit in the last few months and wanted to share her new-found chubbiness with the world.

She’s a bit fond of the dramatic and agreed we could only do her justice if we did her pictures in black and white:

We also took a few with her family, including her mom Michelle, dad Adam and big brother Aiden. Aiden was a bit distracted by the nearby pretty girls, but we pulled off some quick nice images:

What good is a girl’s photo session if you can’t wear your tutu?

Afterwards, best buds David and Aiden stole a few moments to jump on grandma’s bed – ssshhhhhh! don’t tell!

Austin Seniors

I had a lot of fun in Austin a couple weekends ago, photographing Emily and Jordan for their senior pictures – they were models for a day Our first senior session of the year – the wind chill must have been in the 30′s, but these two pushed on, leaping, jumping, hanging from rope – nothing would get in the way of outstanding senior year images!

We definitely had a lot of fun, each just kinda did their own thing and we did our best to capture what made them, them.

There were waaay too many images to blog all of them, a sure sign we had a blast! Jordan and Emily, thank you for the great time capturing your senior year portraits.

Devin and Michael – Sneak Peek

This past weekend we had the pleasure of shooting Devin and Michael’s engagement portraits. They said they were up for pretty much anything, so before the day was over we traipsed through fields, visited the Martin Luther King Memorial, dodged a train, listened to a band warmup, walked Canal St., hiked in grass over our heads, and rolled in the grass at Lamar University – you know, typical stuff we normally like to do in our engagement sessions

Definitely a couple comfortable in their own skin, Devin and Michael were a lot of fun to photograph – the relaxed atmosphere made the session fly by. Always easy with a smile, open to try most anything to make memorable moments, I am looking forward to their October wedding and reception at the Holiday Inn Atrium Plaza.
