Michelle and I met this past Fall at Devin and Michael’s wedding – since then we’ve discussed getting her portraits done in celebration of her upcoming graduation with her Masters Degree from Prarie View A&M a few times. She’s a teacher in the Port Arthur School District so finally this Spring we worked out a schedule to get them done. Luckily her daughter is graduating too and we were able to get both of them in the same afternoon.

Beautiful weather! Perfect for taking relaxed fun portraits by the pond.

Here she is, graduating soon from high school, and yes, she’s just that smart.

Just that smart, and twice as cute.

I predict a bright future for the both of them

Christmas Portraits – Southeast Texas

Whew! The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of activity, from personal family fun with our 2 little ones to the many family Christmas photo sessions.

Here are a few of my favorites from the last few weeks – from 7 months to 96 years young, I really enjoyed being a part of your family for the holidays, even for a short period of time. Note: If you are viewing this on our Facebook page, the images are much nicer on the actual blog post.

I usually take large group photos and then break the groups down into individual families and even quick individual portraits. It gives the families a way to remember the time together and get some nice images of their favorite aunt, grandma and puppy

Oooohh, Christmas-time with babies is extra special!

Christmas Portraits – David and Elise

Last week we took our little ones downtown for some images (they actually (mostly) cooperated!) – we found a perfect green and red spot and rewarded them with hot chocolate at Rao’s afterwards… “mmmm” as Elise would say.

Here’s a couple of our favorites – they’re not perfect, but with kids this dern cute they don’t have to be – and they have a couple grandmas that will tell you that themselves

Those faces just make you grin no matter what.

They’re getting so grown up! If we can keep the ornaments on the Christmas tree this year it’s going to be a fun week next week.

Beaumont Family Portraits – The Morris Family

Recently a friend I’ve known forever contacted me to photograph some family Christmas portraits of her large-ish family – Yay! It’s an honor to be trusted to take anyone’s important portraits, doubly so when it’s a friend and a budding photographer like Hannah. Here are some of my favorites from the afternoon:

The Brady Bunch doesn’t have anything on the Morris family with 4 beautiful daughters:

And, the Pièce de résistance – you can’t have family Christmas portraits without Santa hats! They weren’t extremely happy to be wearing them, but were good sports anyways.

Beaumont Family Portraits – The Callas Family

I was contacted recently by the Callas family here in Beaumont to photograph their family – a mutual friend (Mark Thompson – an excellent custom interiors person if you’re looking) had referred me. Their 2 beautiful daughters, as well as grandparents, and an aunt, uncle and cousins would be in attendance. Here are a few from that evening – most everything was photographed in the backyard of their beautiful home in Brownstone – first up are daddy’s little girls:

I didn’t shoot them all in black and white , here their cousins join in for a little dip in the pool:

Ray, his dad and brother are all physicians. Definitely appropriate in the home office:

Toward the end we snuck in a little mini couples’ session with Lisa and Ray:

All Growed Up!

Elise turned 7 months a couple weeks ago and got her first tooth yesterday! You can’t really see it yet :p , but it’s definitely beginning to poke through those tender gums (which makes for not much sleep at night ).

Anyways, she’s also beginning to pull up to a standing position, which means mama and daddy had to lower her bed… right after the following images

I’m not biased at all, but isn’t she just the cutest baby, in maybe ever?

We’re headed to the beach this weekend and will have some pictures of David then – he’s becoming quite the grown up little boy himself and is almost out of his terrible two’s (as David would say “Not yet!” ).

OK, back to wedding albums + I have a tres nice bridal session coming up tomorrow with Devin and makeup by Grace Mathis at a new location, should be a lot of fun!

The Sturrock Family

Nothing’s better than a toothless grin to start off a crack-a-lackin family session with the Sturrock family this past weekend:

Big brother Gage and big sister Alex joined in the fun in Claiborne Park in Vidor.

We moved to the 4-way see-saw and Gage practiced his surf skills. The weather was perfect for a family photo session – some clouds here and there to cool us a bit and sun peaking through the branches to give great lighting like this:

and this (Luke has the remnants of eating that blue chalk in most of his photos ):

We played catch before moving on to Caldwell Park in Beaumont for an ice cream break and …

… the most awesome hanging-by-your-hands merry-go-round ride ever! These just make you want to go “Wheeeee!!”

Even Luke – he has amazing grip strength for a toddler, he doesn’t even look like he’s trying hard :
