Casey’s Trash the Dress

Here’s a sneak peek at a couple of Casey’s Trash the Dress (Rock the Dress, Unbustled, Rock the Frock ) session images. For those who are not sure what that means, this is a session where the bride gets to flaunt her dress one more time for great photos, even if it gets a spot or 2 on it. We don’t destroy the dress, most dresses are very resilient and will clean up fine unless we get some good ol’ Southeast Texas red clay on it (we avoid that ). Done after a wedding, the bride is much more relaxed and can focus on getting great images that will last a lifetime (or 3 – our prints use materials that will last 100+ years with proper care).

Enough chit-chat, here’s the first look, taken in downtown Beaumont:

You may remember Casey from her family photo session a month or so ago. She decided she also wanted to try a trash the dress session and here we are.

We also ventured down to the beach for a plethora of sunset images, here’s one of them toward the end of the shoot:

disclaimer: no wedding dress was actually “trashed” in this photo session, we did get some great images and the dress did get a little wet.

Parker and Barrow

I had some fun this past week, attending a seminar and photoshoot put on by John Michael Cooper of AltF infamy. John, whose work inspired the whole “Trash the Dress” craze, was in classic form – teaching, shooting, and inspiring.

The day started off mildly, with John sitting down with us to discuss some of his background and thoughts behind his more famous images, then led us through some exercises in photographing engagement sessions. In the afternoon a couple recently married came in and we spent a little time shooting “pretty pictures”:

before moving into the more interesting part of the day, JMC’s re-creation of Bonnie and Clyde’s takedown, with a modern-day bride and groom twist:

Just a note that no bride was harmed in the photographing of this event. To the contrary, people line up for the chance to experience one of JMC’s one-of-a-kind events. After taking their mug-shots they were free to go, with images worthy of 30″x40″ canvases.

Recently I was a part of the huge Urban Trash the Dress event in Houston where more than 60 photographers photographed recently wedded brides strapping on that gorgeous dress once again for a final farewell photo to the gown she spent a fortune to wear for one day only. Brides and Models around the world are lining up for these fun and bazaar events. These so-called Trash the Dress photos have become all the rage with brides who want to add something unconventional or edgy look to their wedding albums.
