Nederland Engagements | Celina and Matt
Whenever I meet with a couple for a wedding consultation, one of my main goals is to get to know them – find out how they met, how he (or she 😉 ) proposed, things like that. As we move into discussing planning their engagement sessions I stress how important it is to use locations that mean something to them as a couple, like where they met, where they went on their first date, where they like to hang out. Ten or thirty years from now they can point to the photos in their engagement album (you do plan to get an engagement album, don’t you? ) and say “that’s…

Beaumont Engagements | Lauree and Shane
A beautifil Spring day in Beaumont meant it was time for Lauree and Shane’s engagement session! I’ve known Shane and his family quite a few years and was happy when they contacted me about photographing their May wedding here in Beaumont. Shane works for the Orange Fire Department and runs his own local business and he and Lauree have been dating quite a while, it was time 🙂 I couldn’t take a bad photo that day – the light was perfect and Shane and Lauree aren’t too bad looking 😉 Lauree will make a beautiful bride, don’t you think? Pretty clear skies help a lot, tho Lauree does look like…

Beaumont Engagements | Mona and Michael
Woo-hoo! It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to post an engagement session – it’s been pretty dang cold the last few months! 🙂 It was still cold the afternoon of Mona and Michael’s engagement session, by the end of the session we were down to rubbing two sticks together for a little heat. 🙂 Actually, that’s not completely true, Mona and Michael had each other to keep them warm, I was forced to burn newspaper and a camera strap. Anyways, on to the images! I’ve known Mona quite a few years, having worked with her in the past here and there and I was pleasantly surprised to…

Beaumont Engagement – Kimberly and Kyle
With the time change we have to adjust our photographic schedules or we get caught by sundown like we did in our recent Lake Charles engagement session with the future Mr. and Mrs. Kyle. 🙂 We got some really good images but the sun went down before we were quite done. So… when Kimberly and Kyle were in town a week or so ago we took a little time to take advantage of the great light and weather to finis: We found several new (to me) places with lots of good texture and light: We just loved how the sunset skimmed light across the tops of grass, great light 🙂…

Port Arthur Engagements – Shonte and Jim
Even in the middle of a rain storm, covered by swarms of mosquitoes (yes, 2 weeks in a row), Shonte and Jim smiled throughout their engagement session and were great subjects as we photographed them in and around Lamar State College Port Arthur. I had a fantastic time hanging with them for the afternoon, and I’m really looking forward to the wedding! Shonte and Jim are just incredibly cool, down to Earth people. With their wedding coming up in November, we are excited to share a few images from their session, and please leave a comment if you’d like! It’s been a while since I’ve walked on the campus in…

Beaumont Engagements – Kyra and Ian
Recently, we had the pleasure of meeting Ian, Kyra and her family – great people 🙂 Their wedding is coming up quickly in January here in Beaumont so we scheduled their engagement session 6 days after meeting 😀 The weather is turning perfect this time of year – the sun is setting a bit earlier, the temps are cooling and we’re getting gorgeous light during the evening golden hour. We wanted a mixture of “pretty” and “urban”, so we chose a few places in and around Beaumont that would give the feeling we were after: Being the center of Gulf Coast commerce for so long, Beaumont has plenty of railroad…

Southeast Texas Engagements – Ashley and AJ
This past week we filmed the engagement photos for Ashley and AJ, a handsome couple from Nederland – their wedding is coming up a little after Valentines day in February, so we’re going to have a whirlwind few months with them! 🙂 The session began with what seemed like perfect weather, until what locals are calling “The Swarm of ’09” set in on us in downtown Beaumont – I’ve never seen so many mosquitos in one place! We bravely gamed on, getting some great photos in the meantime 🙂 What Off! wasn’t able to keep away, photoshop was able to remove… 🙂 But really… once we moved further away from…
