    Home!

It’s been a bit busy around the homefront the past week, to say the least. ๐Ÿ™‚ David (big brother) wasn’t so sure about the usurper to his throne at first: …but her cuteness apparently won the day and he was soon hugging and kissing his little sister: Melanie was discharged after a few days: and now it’s all over but the cuteness ๐Ÿ™‚ Below is a few more images from the past week… we’ve got lots more (like her first bath, David trying to feed his sister, various cute faces) but I’m not sure if this blog would collapse from terminal cuteness. (We ain’t proud, why do you ask?) ๐Ÿ™‚…

    It’s a Girl!

Yes, we knew that part already, but it’s still fun to say ๐Ÿ™‚ Melanie went into labor a bit early last night, so we went to the hospital to get checked, the doctor (Dr. Pieternelle) was walking up the hall as we walked off the elevator and said “there’s no use even checking you, you are less than 12 hours from the scheduled c-section, let’s go ahead and have her”. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Melanie’s eyes bugged, my mouth dropped and an hour later Elise was here! ๐Ÿ™‚ Just a few photos before I head back to the hospital: Beautiful mama waiting for the arrival: Yay! A little blurry, but everything was moving…

    Morgin and Patrick’s Proposal

Some little girls dream all their lives of being Cinderella, finding their prince, a whirlwind romance, the perfect proposal, followed by the perfect wedding and happily ever after. Morgin was one of those little girls – as she grew up she met her prince – Patrick, who is all too willing to give her her perfect proposal. Brought recently to a ‘dinner at Patrick’s parents’ home, Morgin was shocked when the door opened and all her friends and family yelled “surprise!”. Months of preparation had led Patrick to this moment – he pledged his undying love and never-ending devotion to Morgin, but would the glass slipper fit? Patrick got down…

Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!

In Southeast Texas, we get direct hits by hurricanes more often than dustings by snow; so I felt pretty sure when the weatherman said last night we were in for snow that it was another false alarm. Working late on photography-related stuff, I decided to check the backyard before going to bed: The reflections of light on the snow was so strong it was nearly bright as day. We could see down the street like it was 5pm and not 2am – the land of the “midnight sun” was beautiful. ๐Ÿ™‚ We received more snow last night than any December night in Beaumont’s recorded history. At 2:30AM Drew, Amy and…

    Give Thanks

Running a little late adding this one, with everything going on this time of year it’s a wonder I know which day it really is ๐Ÿ™‚ Every year at Thanksgiving, my dad’s side of the family gets together for a family reunion. Pretty much each year we have it in a different place, choosing one that’s fairly central to everyone driving from all over the States. This year we stayed at South Toledo Bend State Park (on the Louisiana side). It’s a beautiful area, especially this time of year with the leaves changing, the ducks migrating, and families missing each other. ๐Ÿ™‚ We gathered Wednesday afternoon, staying in the area…

    Nine!

David turned two this past week! We invited his friends to his little soiree, surely the bash of the year, this past Sunday. We began (as papa and various uncles were still assembling toys outside) in the dining room, singing happy birthday to the all-grown-up young man. He wasn’t too sure about all the people in his house, but soon warmed to them.      The festivities began indoors, but soon spilled over into the backyard – cake and ice cream for everyone! Barely able to contain themselves with the new toys to obviously be played with, it was a bit of struggle to get them to sit for long, no…

    Blue Like Jazz

I had the opportunity to go and see my brother Jerry and a good friend of ours – Kay Miller – perform for a benefit function at Madisons a few nights ago. Kay plays in lots of venues around the area, including Poblano Grill , Sugas Deep South Cuisine and Jazz Bar and our church, Christ Community in Beaumont. Jerry, who usually works for the Beaumont Fire Department and in real estate with Coldwell Southern Homes, has performed in many places over the years, but I hadn’t seen them together yet. That night, with a full house looking on, they killed it. ๐Ÿ™‚ With the lights turned down low, sax…
